\"NYPeople give numerous reasons for having a nose job, but the two primary reasons for undergoing rhinoplasty<\/a> are to improve appearance or improve breathing. Representing different ends of the spectrum, actresses Jennifer Gray and Cameron Diaz are two of the few celebrities that have gone public with their nose jobs. As we noted in our previous post, Jennifer\u2019s reason for undergoing rhinoplasty was cosmetic. Cameron had her facial plastic surgery for medical reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

When the Along Came Polly<\/em>, Charlie\u2019s Angels<\/em> and Bad Teacher <\/em>star had a nose job in 2006, she said it was to correct a breathing problem. Not for the first time, Cameron broke her nose when the avid surfer\u2019s board crashed into her face during a surfing accident. Known for her love of high octane sports, Cameron often performed some of her own movie stunts and did her own driving in The Italian Job<\/em>. The surfing accident compounded previous damage to her nose, making it difficult to breath. During Cameron\u2019s rhinoplasty procedure, a facial plastic surgeon repaired the damage to her nose\u2019s bone structure and cartilage and restructured damaged and misshapen nasal passages, allowing the actress to breathe freely again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you exhale, your nose provides a path for the release of carbon dioxide and other gases. Your nose also acts as a filter to block harmful particles when you breathe. A working nose is a model of the body\u2019s efficient engineering. Unfortunately, noses are delicate and easily broken.
