A recent report by the\u00a0<a title=\"American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aafprs.org\/media\/stats_polls\/m_stats.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery<\/a>\u00a0(AAFPRS) shows that you are certainly not alone.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The latest AAFPRS statistics highlight a 45 percent increase in the number of <a title=\"procedures\" href=\"\/facial-plastic-surgery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">procedures<\/a> preformed over the last two years,\u00a0with a 16 percent increase in <a title=\"non-surgical procedures\" href=\"\/new-york-botox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">non-surgical procedures<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Gender and Age Differences in Facial Plastic Surgery<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A large majority of\u00a0surgical and non-surgical procedures in 2010 were performed on women (83 percent), with women under 35 selecting less invasive procedures such as <a title=\"Botox injections\" href=\"\/new-york-botox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Botox injections<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For women under 35 who did select surgical procedures, <a href=\"\/facial-plastics\/rhinoplasty\/guide-to-rhinoplasty\/\">rhinoplasty<\/a>\u00a0was the most common procedure performed (84 percent).<\/p>\n<p>For men,\u00a0Botox, hyaluronic acid injections, <a title=\"rhinoplasty\" href=\"\/rhinoplasty-new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rhinoplasty<\/a>, and hair transplants were the most common procedures performed.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Ethnicity Trends in Facial Plastic Surgery<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Forty percent of <a title=\"facial plastic surgeons\" href=\"\/new-york-plastic-surgeon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">facial plastic surgeons<\/a>\u00a0reported an increase in the number of\u00a0Asian American, Caucasian, and Hispanic patients in they consulted with in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Relative to procedures selected,\u00a0Asian Americans typically opted for <a title=\"blepharoplasty\" href=\"\/eyelid-surgery-nyc-blepharoplasty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blepharoplasty<\/a> or <a title=\"rhinoplasty\" href=\"\/rhinoplasty-new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rhinoplasty<\/a>,\u00a0African Americans and Hispanics chose <a title=\"rhinoplasty\" href=\"\/results-photos\/rhinoplasty-results\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rhinoplasty<\/a>, while Caucasians favored rhinoplasty and <a title=\"facelifts\" href=\"\/new-york-city-facelift\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">facelifts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, <a title=\"plastic surgeons\" href=\"\/top-facial-plastic-surgeon-nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plastic surgeons<\/a>\u00a0felt that patients were more educated about their procedures and that most of their plastic surgery information was collected through friends.<\/p>\n<p>Importantly, the\u00a0AAFPRS advises that patients seeking facial plastic surgery seek qualified, trained, and experienced <a title=\"facial plastic surgeons\" href=\"\/top-facial-plastic-surgeon-nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">facial plastic surgeons<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you are considering a facial plastic surgery procedure, contact Dr. Kwak for a consultation today.
