Betty White Admits Having Facial Plastic Surgery
Actress Betty White is the latest Hollywood star to come out of the closet and admit to having plastic surgery. Despite years of denying that she had undergone facial plastic surgery, Betty now admits to “having a little work done” in 1976. In her memoir, If You Ask Me, the 89-year-old celebrity reveals that she had eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) in 1976 to tighten up the loose skin around her eyes and give her a more youthful appearance.
One of the most commonly-requested cosmetic procedures, eyelid surgery can correct both droopy upper eyelids and the puffy, baggy skin that forms under the eyes as we age. Often, eyelid surgery is performed in conjunction with a browlift, facelift or skin resurfacing procedure to produce the desired results and give the patient a younger, more attractive appearance.
Betty White is just one in a lengthening line of celebrities who have recently confessed to undergoing facial cosmetic surgery while vehemently denying it. Earlier this year, actress Nicole Kidman confessed that she receiving BOTOX injections while denying it to the press and her fans. Singer Michael Jackson represents the classic case of celebrity denial, undergoing repeated facial plastic surgery procedures while vehemently denying that he had ever had his appearance surgically altered.
Comedienne Joan Rivers is one of the very few celebrities who have been open about undergoing plastic surgery. Her recent book, Men Are Stupid … And They Like Big Boobs: A Woman’s Guide to Beauty Through Plastic Surgery, takes a comically irreverent look at cosmetic surgery while frankly discussing her own experiences. An open proponent of cosmetic surgery, Joan’s book has been lauded for offering practical advice from her own experiences about choosing a plastic surgeon and following recovery and after-care instructions, as well as professional advice from medical professionals.
