FOCUS ON: REVISION RHINOPLASTY
Sometimes you go to a surgeon who isn’t the best or you’re misled to believe that he may be and he botches up your rhinoplasty. It can not only cause physical problems but that eventually leads to a lot of emotional turmoil.
Revision rhinoplasty is also known as secondary rhinoplasty and is essentially corrective nose surgery. It is supposed to be one of the more challenging subjects in the science of facial plastic surgery. Since having undergone prior surgery/ies has already altered the natural anatomy and structure of the nose, only expert surgeons can maneuver and perform corrective surgery atop that. Dr. Kwak has mastered these varied challenges.
Before
After
Dr. Kwak essentially wants to fix the “over-operated nose” and make it look streamlined, natural and symmetric. Its an outpatient surgery, so you don’t have to stay in the hospital overnight and there’s relatively minimal pain. Patients are suggested to take a week off of work as part of the recovery process – there’s little pain and little nausea so recovery is typically uneventful. There may be swelling or slight temporary bruising.
After removal of the bandage, most patients can easily return to work and look good to go out in public and the bandage is usually kept on for about 6-7 days.
During your preliminary consultation with Dr. Kwak, do be very open and communicate with him about exactly what your realistic expectations, past issues, concerns, and problems plus questions are. Having a clear idea of the outcome before you go in for the surgery is not only helpful to your surgeon but it will also put you at ease and ensure you get what you want out of the surgery. Dr. Kwak uses computer imaging for a concise view of rhinoplasty and also may do a nasal endoscopy.
Pain is like that of a “mild bruise” and Dr. Kwak may prescribe you some pain medication to facilitate a speedy and comfortable recovery!
