Pronox™ Guide
Many ESKMD procedures and therapies do not require general anesthesia. Instead, we use Pronox™ which is a milder, short-lived analgesic. This guide to Pronox™ answers some questions you may have. ESKMD strives to ensure our patient’s concerns are met. If this guide leaves you with questions, please ask us to clarify any of your thoughts.
What is Pronox™?
It is an alternative to general anesthesia that relieves pain and calms you down without making you unconscious.
What is Pronox™ made of?
50% oxygen and 50% nitrous oxide.
How do you receive Pronox™?
Pronox™ is unique in that it is patient-administered. You can simply treat your pain or anxiety by taking a puff of the mixed gas via a tube that is attached to a wheeled delivery system.
What sorts of procedures/therapies is Pronox™ used for?
A number of procedures including Botox, Halo, Microneedling, and Ultherapy.
What are the benefits of using Pronox™?
One puff of Pronox™ will instantly reduce anxiety and relieve pain while only lasting five minutes. This allows you to leave the office feeling normal and ready to take on the rest of your day. This means you can drive yourself to and from the procedure! Additionally, you are in control of how much you take and therefore are able to self-administer the relief as you want.
Are there any side effects?
Pronox™ can make you feel extremely relaxed to the point where you may feel like you cannot move. You may experience brief delusions or hallucinations. You may also feel some slight nausea and dizziness and may develop a mild headache. It is advised to eat and drink before taking Pronox™ to reduce these side effects. Luckily all of these are temporary and should only last for five minutes.
Is Pronox™ safe?
Very. Any side effects are brief. No lasting complications occur. As always, at ESKMD we prioritize your well-being and want you to feel at ease. Please contact us with any concerns.
