Why Celebrities Should Come Clean about Facial Plastic Surgery
In Hollywood, it’s becoming fashionable to embrace the natural look and bash plastic surgery. It has become a regular event to hear celebrities deny in public that they have had cosmetic surgery and assert that they never will. Smiling into the camera, popular stars say they believe in growing old gracefully and vow to embrace their wrinkles when they begin to age. They look straight at their fans and primly state that they “have not had and would never have plastic surgery.” But like many things in tinsel town, things aren’t always as they seem. Those supposedly heart-felt vows are more often fantasy than fact.
Betty White and Nicole Kidman are just two of the growing list of celebrities who have admitted living a lie. While publically decrying the “unnaturalness” of facial plastic surgery, many celebrities have been secretly indulging themselves in a nip here and a tuck there topped off with a few shots of Botox. Despite their very public protestations, Hollywood stars and other celebrities frequently use facial plastic surgery to hide the signs of aging. They undergo both surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures to maintain their youthful beauty and rejuvenate their careers. Increasingly this two-faced behavior is coming under attack.
Facial plastic surgeons, celebrity watchers and bloggers are taking celebrities to task for creating false expectations about aging and beauty. Like it or not, celebrities are role models. While there’s nothing wrong with having plastic surgery and preferring to keep it secret, celebrities do their fans a disservice when they deceive them. How much better it would be if celebrities were honest and shared with their fans their secret for growing old gracefully — facial plastic surgery.
